On Oct. 26, campus residence halls hosted a trick-or-treating event, encouraging students to take part in the Halloween celebration. Starting at 6 p.m. students could be seen going from lobby to lobby, collecting candy and getting dressed up in their Halloween costumes.

“I wanted to give residents an opportunity to sort of trick or treat,” says Cheyenne Hawkins, resident director for student housing. “We’re young adults and that’s not really something that we get to do.”

The event provided the opportunity for young adults to not only partake in trick-or-treating but also for student organizations to provide resources for students as well. Every residence hall participated in handing out treats, with Luntsford also offering cookie decorating and Lucille Clement offering games.

At Tri-Hall field, students wore costumes and made s’mores at the bonfire party. After a walk-though showcase of some of the costumes, a contest was held to name the top three. Party-goers mingled and danced the night away, complimenting each other’s costumes.

“Maybe it can become sort of an annual thing, maybe a tradition,” says Hawkins. “We’re all about that in housing.”

Decorations have also gone up in some of the resident hall lobbies, and students have gotten creative in decorating their doors. Many have hung up signs, lights and even a few skeletons. Pumpkins can also be found next to many of the doors.
