Garrett Tumlin worked for the East Tennessean from 2015 to 2019. He served in the roles of athletics reporter, athletics editor and news editor during his duration with the publication.

Tumlin graduated in 2019 and received two degrees from ETSU: a bachelor’s degree in journalism and a master’s degree in brand and media strategy.

He currently works as a digital marketing manager in Daytona Beach, Florida for ONE DAYTONA (NASCAR). He manages digital channels such as their website, social media, email and digital boards.

“I have a passion for digital marketing, I love sports, and I’ve always wanted to live in Florida,” said Tumlin. “I enjoy setting goals and creating strategies to accomplish them. My role also works with the events team, so it’s great to actually see the results in person for specific campaigns.“

Tumlin credited the newspaper as preparation for his new and current role with ONE DAYTONA.

“The East Tennessean not only helped me become a great writer, but it prepared me for accuracy, attention to detail, and meeting deadlines which are all crucial in my current role,” he concluded.
