On Jan. 24, ETSU-Con announced Kira Buckland as a guest for their 2023 convention lineup.

Buckland is known for her roles in Jolyne Cujoh in “JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure,” Kuki Shinobu in “Genshin Impact” and Mitsuri Kanroji in “Demon Slayer.” This follows their previous announcement earlier this month of Grey DeLisle as a headlining guest.

“We chose Kira Buckland not only because of the various media she has been in, but also because of her early history on Newgrounds, working her way up in the industry independently,” said Madison Warner, ETSU-Con manager. “Between Grey DeLisle and Kira Buckland, we get to see an amazing perspective from women in the industry who get to speak to our students about their journeys, and inspire them as well.”

The convention returned to campus in Spring 2022 after a several-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic and renovations. The event exceeded 2,300 attendees, including 700 students.

“ETSU-Con 2023 is going to be our biggest and best year yet,” added Hanna Sigmund, convention chair. “We have a great lineup of interesting panels highlighting experiences from local professors involved in creative industries, biologists and astrophysicists and even the Grey Fossil Site.”

It will take place on April 1-2 at the D.P. Culp Student Center. The convention is free for current students, with discounts offered to first responders, faculty, alumni and veterans.
