For coffee and tea enthusiasts seeking quality products with an emphasis on sustainability, The Moon Coffee and Tea House could be added to your rotation soon.

The Moon Coffee and Tea House plans to open its doors early-to-mid February, and Brett Dial, owner and 2015 graduate of ETSU, couldn’t be more excited.

“I’ve known for a long time that I wanted to open a business,” Dial said.

For Dial, opening The Moon is a dream come true. His background in the food industry has given him a passion for food, especially coffee and tea.

“It’s my goal to serve the best coffee and tea I can find,” Dial said.

It’s clear that The Moon is taking no shortcuts in obtaining their quality products. Dial shares that all their coffee beans are harvested from small farms in South America. All are organic, hand-picked, dried by the equator sun and grown sustainably without the use of pesticides.

The tea leaves are also hand picked, sustainably grown, pesticide-free and organic.

Additionally, Dial takes pride in the way that The Moon will produce their drinks. He intends to use only filtered water and is working to get all-organic milk and non-dairy alternatives.

Outside of coffee and tea, The Moon aims to provide customers with a great experience and a welcoming atmosphere.

“We’re trying to be a place that’s comfortable, cozy, but also fun,” Dial said. “We want a place where people feel like they can talk and laugh.”

Future goals for The Moon include hosting open mic nights and pop-ups and providing a space where local artists can showcase their work.

Dial also hopes to give back through partnering with local non-profits and worldwide charities.

“Much like the moon, we’re trying to be a light,” Dial said.
