The ETSU Michael Myers guy, or Mike as a preferred nickname, has made a name for himself by “haunting” the school grounds and bringing laughter to students on campus.

While his identity remains hidden, he has made this character a spectacle of entertainment and self-indulgence all in one, majoring in fine arts with a minor in studio art.

“I knew that October was coming, Halloween was coming,” he said. “That’s my favorite holiday of the entire year.”

Along with the character, he explained that the costume itself had a backstory, having acquired it in his hometown before he attended ETSU. What first started as a project had turned into a one-man show after moving locations for college.

“I have actually been wearing this costume back in my hometown for a few years already,” he said. “The overalls I got maybe one year ago for some sort of production that we were supposed to into, but it never happened unfortunately, but I just kept it and said, ‘might as well.’”

He has made guest appearances alongside Buctainment and Party Bucs, the most memorable for him being the 1970s throwback dance hosted by Party Bucs, Boogie in the Brooks, he mentioned.

Always keeping safety over fun, he explained that he has strict priority not to cause harm or conflict when he makes his appearances, even as unexpected as they seem.

“That is something I have taken priority over,” he said. “For example, If I go out anytime, I will contact the higher-ups, so whether that be Buctainment or Caelan Peterson over at Party Bucs, I would email these people just to make sure.”

Using YikYak as a main way to communicate with the ETSU population, he wanted to clear up misconceptions about messages he has seen targeted against his behavior.

The student wanted to announce that his behavior is controlled, and he does not target any gender or any people in specific. Especially with surprise appearances at events, the host of the event will know about his visit before his arrival.
