The home losing streak for men’s basketball grew to eight on Saturday as the (12-11) Chattanooga Mocs defeated the struggling (8-15) ETSU Bucs 73-64 at Freedom Hall.

The Bucs were fresh off an overtime loss on the road at Mercer and were hoping to end their at-home losing streak against a Chattanooga team that had dropped their last four games.

The first half of play was full of Chattanooga runs that kept ETSU chasing the lead. With 3:22 remaining, the Bucs were down by nine points before a 10-2 run to end the half trailing by only one point, 33-32.

The second half of play was closely contested between both teams, but it was the Chattanooga bench that made the scale tilt in favor of the Mocs, outscoring the ETSU bench 28-9.

With 1:49 left in play, the Bucs were able to bring the Mocs within one point at 64-65. The Mocs would go on a 8-0 run to end the game with a final score of 73-64.

The Bucs were led again by Jalen Haynes (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.), who was coming off a career high of 27-points in ETSU’s loss at Mercer. Haynes added 16-points and five rebounds to the Bucs’ efforts.

Jamarius Hairston (Salisbury, N.C.) led the way off the glass for the Bucs with 11 rebounds and 13-points. Jaden Seymour (Charlotte, N.C.) also scored in the double-digits with 12-points and eight boards.

Shooting continued to be an issue for the Bucs, as the team only shot 35 percent from the field, with an even lower 23 percent from three.

The Bucs were a perfect 16-16 from the free-throw line in the game, and were also able extend their 1,115-game streak with at least one three-pointer made– the fourth-longest active streak in the nation.

The Bucs will try to regroup and snap the Freedom Hall losing streak on Feb. 1, when the (13-10) Wofford Terriers come to town. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
