On Tuesday, Feb. 28, Grammy Award-winning vocal ensemble Chanticleer is coming to East Tennessee State University.
Chanticleer has been hailed as “the world’s reigning male chorus” by “The New Yorker”, and is known around the world as “an orchestra of voices” for its wide-ranging repertoire. The group was founded in San Francisco in 1978 by singer Louis Botto, quickly becoming one of the most well-known recording and touring ensembles in the world.
“Having this Grammy Award-winning ensemble come to the Appalachian Highlands is a true delight,” said Dr. Alan Stevens, chair of the Department of Music. “Get your tickets now for the group known around the world as ‘an orchestra of voices.’”
The group name “Chanticleer” originates after the “clear-singing” rooster in Geoffrey Chaucer’s “Cabterbury Tales.”
