ETSU Swim Club is gearing up for its spring semester and to participate in the Tennessee Smokey Invitational in Knoxville, Tennessee on Saturday, Feb 4.

The second event will take place on Saturday, March 4 hosted by Appalachian State University, the High Country Invitational.

At both of these events, swimmers will be able to earn qualifying for Nationals which will be hosted at Ohio State University.

Sophomore President Sam Bates (Nashville, Tennessee) has already qualified in the 50 back during their first meet at Clemson University in September, and the club is expecting three or more swimmers to qualify at meets this semester.

Last year the team took three competitors to Nationals at Georgia Tech.

Junior Gabby Gomez (Wytheville, Virginia) joined the team a year ago,

“The environment, it’s not a stressful environment at practice at all. Everyone kind of goofs around and hangs out. We still practice, but during each set, we all talk to each other and make jokes. That’s my favorite part.” said Gomez.

The club practices in the CPA pool Mondays and Thursdays from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
