Lindsey King worked for the East Tennessean from 2016 to 2017. She served as the section editor for the opinion column during her time with the publication.

King graduated in 2017 and received a bachelor’s degree in English literature and language.

She currently works as senior manager for digital marketing at Crown Laboratories Inc. in Johnson City. King leads the digital marketing strategy for Crown Therapeutics’ portfolio which includes seven national brands such as: PanOxyl, Blue Lizard Australian Sunscreen and Keri.

After pursuing a career as a book editor, King learned that she had a stronger passion for marketing.

“I’ve always liked tech and my worst nightmare is to be bored in a 9 to 5,” said King. “Digital marketing is always changing…any book on the field is outdated by the time it’s published. I love being in a field that rewards diving in head-first, taking chances and learning as you go.”

While she no longer serves in the field of journalism, she mentioned her experience with the East Tennessean allowed her to explore new avenues of communicating.

“I’m grateful to the East Tennessean for being a training field for all media careers,” said King. “Through the heat of the 2016 election, the ET and my fellow staff learned so much about public relations and managing the relationship with the ETSU community.”
