With February being Black History Month, Black Affairs and the HASCA club here at ETSU hosted a combined Vibe N’ Paint event for students.
Both clubs came together to celebrate Black History Month and show off students’ creativity.
Christian Morgan, head of the Vibe N’ Paint Event, explained, “It’s important to make connections with other organizations on campus who have some of the same beliefs and drives, to make this a more inclusive campus. We hosted this event to bring students all around ETSU together and as a de-stresser.”
There were around 70 students who attended the event.
“I think it went pretty well, and we will probably end up having to stay longer than expected,” expressed Morgan. “As long as people are having fun and painting, we will keep the event going.”
Students were able to walk up and choose paint colors and canvas shape. All of the supplies were provided by either Black Affairs or HASCA.
“My favorite part about having events like this on campus is meeting new people and making new bonds with new people around campus,” said Dallas Halliburton, a junior at ETSU and an attendee of the event.
Vibe N’ Paint has been an event hosted in past semesters, but students have seemed to love the idea of the event and continue to bring more and more people along with them.
“I painted one of my favorite quotes: ‘You’ll get through it.’ I felt painting this is a reminder of my life motto, and it came to mind to paint on my canvas,” said India Robinson, a sophomore at ETSU.
