The Career Studio, located in the Carrier Center, has been in the process of a soft launch and is officially hosting an opening celebration on March 21 from 12-3 p.m. The Career Studio is a space for students to seek help with resumes, mock interviews, job and interview search and ask questions.

“As we started our transition to Navigate for the majority of our appointment tracking, it became clear that our students needed a walk-in option to answer those questions that may not need a full 30 minute appointment,” said Jenny Lockmiller, director of University Career Services. “We think that students might be more likely to ask those questions or seek that help if they can get an answer right now instead of a few days.”

The Career Studio allows students to receive assistance from trained Career Ambassadors without an appointment. It is open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily and is beginning to be implemented into many 1020 class tours as a viable resource on campus.

“We’re here to help at whatever level you are, wherever you’re at in your journey of career exploration,” said Kaleigh Kemp, a graduate assistant working in the Career Studio. “University Career Services is here to help a student or alumni through that process so they can just find fulfillment in the job-field that they want to go into.”

The Career Studio also works with Bucky’s Closet, a service in which students can get a free interview-appropriate outfit every semester, as well as free headshots. The Career Ambassadors expressed a want for students to know that there are no requirements to use their services. They are open to everyone.

“We are very excited to announce the grand opening of our Career Studio,” said Lockmiller, referencing the opening celebration. She encouraged students to attend, noting that they will have food and prizes.
