On March 21, 2023, the Broadway show “Riverdance” came to ETSU as part of the inaugural Broadway series at the Martin Center for the Arts.

The show was sold out with season tickets alone when the tickets went on sale in August 2022.

The production of “Riverdance” is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. The music that accompanies the show is Grammy award-winning and is partnered with the energy and passion of Irish and other international dancing.

At the beginning of March up until the time of the show, ETSU offered 50 discounted tickets to the show for students for $10 in partnership with ETSU Student Life & Enrollment.

When the show first presented in Dublin, Ireland in 1995, it broke all box office records during its world premiere.

According to press release, “When the show transferred to London the reaction was unprecedented. There followed a hugely successful tour starting in New York in March 1996, where 8 sold‐out shows at Radio City Music Hall heralded the start of two decades of touring by Riverdance companies throughout North America. Since its inception, Riverdance has packed theatres throughout North America, Oceania, Asia, Europe, South Africa, and South America.”

According to The Martin Center website, the ETSU Foundation Grand Hall, where the event was held, can hold up to 1,200 patrons, meaning the show sold around 1,200 tickets for the event.

The next show in the 2023 Broadway Season will be “Chicago.” The show will be held for two nights, April 25 and 26. Tickets are still available for the event.
