Charleston S.C. (April 23, 2023) – Game three of the weekend baseball series was 75 degrees and sunny at Joseph P. Riley Jr. Park in Charleston, South Carolina, as the ETSU Buccaneers outlast The Citadel in a 1-0 pitching battle.

Starting on the hill for The Citadel was RHP Cameron Reeves (Rock Hill, S.C.), who pitched eight innings, giving up just one run on four hits and three walks.

The player to watch in this Sunday rubber match was ETSU’s starting pitcher Nathanial Tate (Manchester, Tenn.). The fifth-year senior pitched a complete game shutout giving up five hits and striking out thirteen.

The lone run of Sunday’s contest came from an eighth-inning RBI single from junior transfer Cameron Sisneros (Littleton, Colo.), scoring center fielder Tommy Barth (Brecksville, Ohio).

Following Tate’s complete game shutout, he gets credited with the win, bringing his senior campaign to 5-3.

Although Cameron Reeves also had an outstanding performance on the mound, it was not enough to snag the win. Reeves’ record drops to 6-3.

With this win, ETSU takes the three-game series 2-1.

The Bucs’ record now sits at 17-20, which places them at the bottom of the SoCon rankings.

ETSU takes the field again on April 25 when they travel into Virginia to take on Radford University.

Radford, struggling with a tough season, is currently 8-33 on the year.

First pitch for the April 25 game vs. Radford is set for 6 p.m.

ETSU will be back in Johnson City on April 28 for a three-game series with Western Carolina.
