The Well, a student ministry on campus, is about to undergo change, along with a new address. What is now 910 W. Maple St. will soon become 820 W. Walnut St., the new home for The Well Ministry.

For the last few years, The Well has grown and flourished into what it is today. James and Samantha McNeill, founders and pastors of The Well in Johnson City, have watched the successful ministry grow before them. The Well has been held in many places around Johnson City, but that is all going to change now.

The McNeil’s have been praying for this opportunity for the last 26 years. James McNeill, a former student at ETSU, founded The Well and with the help of others, has built it up into a successful ministry The Well has its weekly ministry downtown Johnson City at The King’s Centre, which has accommodated its students and staff on Wednesdays. With the help of organizations and prayers, The Well was able to get the property they had been praying for, which will expand their services and bring many students to God for years to come.

The 820 W. Walnut St. property is 18,000 square feet and will fit offices, an auditorium, a coffee shop, small group rooms and various spaces so students can feel welcomed and cared for. As families and friends donated, they were able to raise enough money to buy the property in 2018 and move forward with their plan. This project was funded 100% by people around the Tri-Cities and is aimed to be a $33 million project.

With a few more obstacles to go through, The Well will hopefully be ready come fall 2024, where students can be welcomed into a new place. The McNeils and The Well family are excited and happy to share the new spaces with loved ones and students, along with sharing the gospel in their newfound home.
