ETSU women’s soccer defensive player Madison Hook (Fareham, England) was named SoCon player of the week on Sept.12 in Spartanburg, S.C.

Last season, Hook earned the SoCon commissioner’s medal and spots on the fall SoCon All-Academic team and honor roll. Hook also logged 1402 minutes for the team, recorded five total shots on goal and claimed at least 60 minutes of every shutout posted as a team.

Hook played 90 minutes of the game vs. Winthrop on Monday night at Summer-Taylors stadium. In the 73rd minute, Hook assisted the winning goal by senior Emma Arnold (Bristol, Tenn), giving the Bucs the night’s win.

The match at Tennessee Tech allowed Hook and junior Sydney Somogyi (Germantown, Tenn.) to participate in their 10th consecutive match. Hook and Somogyi have played more than 89 minutes together and have both played 16 out of the 18 games so far.

Before becoming a Buc, Hook had years of experience in English women’s soccer. She played for Hove Albion and Brighton in the FA WSL Academy League for the last two seasons. Hook played central defense.
