On Oct. 8, ETSU women’s soccer hosted Wofford in a Southern Conference matchup. The Bucs cruised to victory in a final score of 4-1.

ETSU’s offensive strike started early as Aliya Cooper (Chattanooga, Tenn) scored her second goal of the season in the 19th minute of play. Cooper had help from two other Tennessee natives to set her up as Taylor Limprevil (Spring Hill, Tenn.) made an impressive effort to keep the ball moving and found Ruby Teixeria (Nashville, Tenn.), who ultimately passed to Cooper for the goal.

The Bucs struck again with little time to spare before halftime as Ava Matherne (Gulf Breeze, Fla.) broke free to find Kinsten Evans (Nolensville, Tenn.) for a tap-in-goal. This was Evans’s first goal since September 8, 2022.

The Bucs did not get complacent with the 2-0 lead they had established as the second half began. Sinoxolo Cesane (Cape Town, South Africa) earned an assist after finding freshman Reagan Fitzgerald (Oviedo, Fla.) for her fifth goal of the season. Not even three minutes later, the Bucs struck again. This time, Cesane was rewarded with a goal of her own after being set up by Grace Eatz (Roswell, Ga.). This goal made the score 4-0.

Wofford got on the board in the 74th minute, more than any other visiting team has done inside Summers-Taylor this season. ETSU outshot Wofford 21-10 and outshot them on goal 10-5. Eatz and Cesane had five shots apiece, and goalkeeper Ashton Blair (Knoxville, Tenn.) stopped four of five shots, securing her 10th career win. She is the fifth Buccaneer goalkeeper to obtain double-digit victories.

The Bucs now have a 9-2-5 record overall and 5-1-2 in Southern Conference play. The team will play their last game on October 22 against Western Carolina before preparing for the Southern Conference title.
