Johnson City families and ETSU students entered the festive holiday spirit at Bucky’s Blizzard Block Party on Nov. 16.

ETSU hosted Bucky’s Blizzard Block Party on Thursday from 5 to 9 p.m.

With cookies, popcorn, s’mores and warm drinks, the University Commons welcomed students with a warm atmosphere, full of music and laughter. People had the opportunity to skate on the campus’ own ice-skating rink.

“The atmosphere was so lighthearted and welcoming. … It really got me in the Christmas spirit,” said Mckenzie Crabtree, an ETSU student.

At the party, pins were given to attendees, with the first 200 receiving a free T-shirt.

Another attendee, Mallory Gaines, shared, “Christmas is my favorite time of the year. I love how ETSU has provided me two opportunities with both the tree lighting ceremony and this party to get into the Christmas spirit.”

With finals and the end of the semester coming up, it is vital for students to choose to take time for themselves. ETSU is continually working to provide opportunities for students to let loose and relax without the worries of an assignment or exam coming up.

ETSU’s ice rink opened initially Nov. 13, with Bucky’s Blizzard Block Party serving as its grand opening. The rink will be running till Dec. 17. Thursdays and Fridays the rink will be open from 5-9 p.m. On Saturdays it will be open from 12-7 p.m and Sunday from 2- 7 p.m.

Students can get in with their student ID and four dollars. The ice rink is six dollars for the general public.
