ETSU hosted a concert and voice recital featuring faculty from ETSU and other universities.

Friday night at 7:30 p.m. at the Martin Center for the Arts, ETSU hosted the Sun-Joo Oh and guests’ Faculty Voice Recital. The concert provided a mix of artists joining Oh.

Participant Katelyn Adams, ETSU strings adjunct, described the night, “faculty recital was a celebration of Korean culture and folk song. It was organized by Sun-Joo Oh and featured the works of many Korean composers and performers.”

Oh hails from Busan, South Korea, and has been sharing her talents with ETSU’s community since joining the faculty in 2005. Friday’s recital was an opportunity for the faculty of ETSU and friends of Oh to display their talents and share their culture with the community.

“The Recital went very well, it was fascinating to hear the already beautiful Korean language set to beautiful music,” said Adams.

The concert invited community members and students to be immersed in a night of song and culture from artists of different origins. This recital was a great way for students and members to be exposed to new languages and cultures.

“This was my first solo performance as a faculty member, and it was such an honor to have been a part of such a beautiful program with my esteemed colleagues,” Adams said.

The night saw a large turnout with a mix of students and community members. For those who were unable to attend the recital a live stream was also offered through ETSU’s website.

ETSU plans to continue to offer similar opportunities to students and members of the community. Diversity is rich within the community and opportunities to experience new cultures and languages are offered often throughout the year and can be found through ETSU’s event calendar.
