It was a competitive game between UNC Greensboro and ETSU, with UNC Greensboro securing a 54-50 victory.

Despite a strong performance from the Buccaneers, particularly in the third quarter, they couldn’t maintain their lead in the fourth quarter.

Graduate student Breanne Beatty (Worthington, Ohio) led the scoring for ETSU with 15 points, showcasing an impressive performance with all her points coming from beyond the 3-point marker.

Junior Nevaeh Brown (Charlotte, N.C) and senior Courtney Moore (Gainesville, Fla.) also contributed 10 points each with Brown adding six assists, four rebounds, and two steals to her stat line.

The first quarter saw a close matchup, with UNCG struggling from beyond the arc and having to rely on offensive rebounds for points. The Bucs took a slim lead of 12-10 after the first quarter.

In the second quarter, ETSU capitalized on the Spartan turnovers, outscoring UNCG 9-8 and holding a three-point lead at halftime.

The third quarter was a highlight reel for ETSU, as they scored 24 points and extended their lead to 11.

However, UNCG made a comeback in the fourth quarter, tightening their defense and holding the Bucs to just 2-for-12 shooting. Despite ETSU’s efforts to get back in the game, UNCG secured the win with a final score of 54-50.

This loss drops the Bucs to a 14-6 overall record and 3-2 record in SoCon play. ETSU will now look to bounce back in their next game against Furman at home. The game is scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 1, with a tip off set for 7 p.m. at Brooks Gym.
