Last week, ETSU women’s volleyball head coach Lindsey Devine announced the addition of three new assistant coaches would be joining the team this upcoming season; Emily Arnold, Aaron Giorgi, and Adam VanOort.

Arnold will be retuning to Johnson City for the first time since her time on the team from 2019 to the spring season of 2021. During her tenure at ETSU, Arnold was a six-time SoCon Setter of the Week and earned both SoCon All-Freshman Team and All-SoCon Second Team Honors as a freshman in 2019.

Giorgi joins the Buccaneer’s after spending his last two seasons as an assistant coach at Wright State in Dayton, Ohio. During his time with the program, he was a part of back-to-back NCAA tournament appearances, and helped lead his team to back-to-back conference championships, going a perfect 20-0 in the Horizon League in 2022.

VanOort comes to Johnson City with ten plus years of coaching experience under his belt, coaching both high school and club volleyball during his career. During his collegiate career, Adam played at the University of Minnesota where he earned All-Big Ten honors his senior year before competing at a higher-level post graduation.

In a statement released by the ETSU Department of Intercollegiate Athletics on Tuesday, Coach Devine had nothing but positive things to say about the new hires. “I am excited with the addition of Emily, Aaron, and Adam to help build the volleyball program at ETSU.”  She later went on her in statement to acknowledge how their core values are going to be a crucial aspect in the “winning people” culture ETSU volleyball is known for.

The new additions are definitely something exciting to look forward to this upcoming season as the ETSU women’s volleyball team looks to reclaim their spot-on top of the totem pole this coming season.

The Bucs look to return to their winning ways this coming August as head coach Lindsey Devine returns to the court for the first time since 2018.
