Winners of five of their last six matches, the ETSU women’s tennis team were scheduled to play in back-to-back road matches on Sunday and Monday. ETSU faced off against Radford on Monday at 2 p.m. Radford enters this weekend with a 2-7 record, the Highlanders have picked up wins over North Carolina Central and Bluefield State this spring. A player to watch for Radford is Julia Abrams. Abrams has been named the Big South Player of the week twice this season.

 

The No. 75 ETSU women’s team secured a convincing 7-0 against Radford on Monday, boosting their overall season record to 6-5. ETSU displayed dominance throughout the match, clinching victories in both doubles and singles contests.

            DOUBLES:

  1. Fernanda Carvajal/Daniela Rivera (ETSU) def. Julia Abrams/Emily Brandow (RAD) 6-1.
  2. Sofia Markova/Alessandra Caceres (ETSU) def. Lexi Smolder/Ameek Baatth (RAD) 6-2.
  3. Jana Rovira/Ralista Alexandrova (ETSU) def. Michaela Stephens/Brooke Murphy (RAD) 6-4.

The victory marks ETSU’s fourth shutout of the season, with previous shutouts against Middle Tennessee State, UNC Greensboro and Western Carolina. Next, ETSU will return to SoCon play, hosting Wofford in Johnson City on Friday March 8.
