The ETSU Department of Music held the BucsWorth and Belles Concert in the Grand Hall at the Martin Center for the Arts on March 22.

BucsWorth, the male tenor and bass choir of ETSU,  joined the Belles, ETSU’s soprano and alto female choir, for an evening of music. The show was entitled: “Sing the Darkness to Light,” featuring music that tells stories of hope and moving forward.

Matthew Potterton, the Belles’ conductor, gave insight into the event and its deeper meaning.

“Our shared performances with BucsWorth provide students the opportunity to share their musical talents with the community and a chance to shine and demonstrate the hard work they’ve put into their performances,” said Potterton. “But it’s more than just a concert-it’s a celebration of the incredible music talent at ETSU, and it’s a time to come together to celebrate the power of music to uplift, inspire and unite.”

“Sing the Darkness to Light” is one of the many testaments to the creativity and passion that define the ETSU Department of Music, especially BucsWorth director, Lauren Ramey and both Matthew Potterton and Kathryn May, directors of Belles.

The Belles have been recognized as an outstanding soprano alto choir, and have performed for the Tennessee Music Education Association and at select events throughout the region. BucsWorth has been recognized as one of the premier university Tenor Bass Choirs in the nation and also received third place in the 2017 American Prize Competition for University Choir.

In upcoming events, the Paris Island Marine Band Wind Ensemble will be performing at the Martin Center for the Arts on Wednesday, March 27 at 7:30 p.m. The event will be held in the Grand Hall, and tickets will be free to the public.
