Johnson City Public Library has much to offer to its community regardless of age and interests.

Since its establishment in 1895, Johnson City Public Library has been helping educate and entertain the local community. What started as a club with 20 members has become a source of educational enrichment for everyone in Johnson City.

Julia Turpin, library director, said, “We have a variety of programs at all ages starting with babies up until adults at any age. We have things like lectures. We have coming up Louis Gump who just published a new book and that’s going to be about intrapreneurship, and we also have stuff like family story time. There is really a big variety of events and programs happening throughout the month.”

The library offers much more than books for members and its community. Anyone looking to learn more, find a place to study or have fun will find something at the Johnson City Public Library. It can also offer students at ETSU a place to study or research.

“I would say college students would want to take advantage of our facility itself. We do have private study rooms available with whiteboards so they can come and work on projects or things,” Turpin said.

For ETSU students who need more space or a different setting to study the Johnson City Public Library is the perfect alternative.

“We also have access to databases through the Tennessee Electronic Library as well as a pretty robust collection of eBooks and audiobooks available for entertainment,” Turpin said.

The Johnson City Public Library strives to provide knowledge and entertainment to its community and students of all ages. ETSU students who are not from the area can still access a library card while in the area. Students or community members can get involved and see events and programs through the Johnson City Public Library website and social media accounts.
