East Tennessee State University’s women’s tennis team took on Furman at home for senior day and the regular season finale on April 13. The event was catered with free pizza for everyone in attendance. The Bucs took care of business like they needed to and defeated Furman 4-3.

This matchup was predicted to be a tough one for ETSU, considering the women’s tennis team was 2-19 in all-time matchups prior to this game. Prior to their last win against Furman in 2023, the women had lost the previous 11 matches.

The season finale was much different than the history between ETSU and Furman. The women’s tennis team stared glory directly in the eyes, taking home the victory 4-3 and were crowned SoCon regular season champions. This was the first time in school history the women’s tennis team was awarded with this honor.

The women’s tennis team from ETSU not only won the SoCon regular season championship, but they also made a strong statement about their standing in the collegiate tennis scene. This accomplishment will surely raise the program’s profile, draw in bright people, and leave a lasting impression on ETSU.

Hopefully the Bucs should be able to maintain this momentum going into the Southern Conference tournament and beyond. With their newfound self-assurance and championship-winning mindset, East Tennessee State University’s women’s tennis has a promising future. The team is still a source of inspiration as they build on this historic victory, showing how perseverance and teamwork can overcome challenges and change the course of history. The women are very excited to show out on in the SoCon tournament.
