Anchors aweigh Buccaneers! The new and improved ETSU football team is preparing for a potential break-out season. During the off season, Buccaneer football was in need of new leadership and cultural identity. Former Gardner-Webb football coach, Tre Lamb, was taped to lead the Bucs. Lamb brings a completely revamped staff alongside FCS playoff experience, something the Bucs have lacked in previous seasons. Alongside Lamb, the Bucs will be celebrating their ninth season since returning to the gridiron of college football in 2015.

The Bucs will open against long-time rival, the Appalachian State Mountaineers, on the road in Boone, N.C. on Aug. 31. The home opener will be the following week against UVA-Wise. In addition, the Bucs will be challenged early on in the season once again, when the multi-time FCS National Champion North Dakota State Bison come to Johnson City on Sep. 14, in prime-time.

The challenges ahead are expected to be met in time, as Coach Lamb insists to an emphasis on discipline, accountability, and teamwork that has already begun to reshape the culture within the locker room, fostering a sense of unity and determination that was missing in previous years.

In addition to the new coaching staff, the Buccaneers boast a talented recruiting class eager to make an immediate impact on the field. With a mix of seasoned veterans and promising newcomers, the Bucs are well-equipped to tackle a challenging schedule. The road ahead won’t be easy, but with Lamb at the helm and a reinvigorated roster, the Buccaneers are poised to make a statement this season.

Fans and alumni alike are hopeful that this could be the year the Bucs return to the playoffs and re-establish themselves as a force to be reckoned with in the FCS.
