The Buccaneers recently traveled to San Antonio, Texas to play in their second tournament of the fall.

This tournament featured some of the top collegiate golf teams, testing the Bucs’ talent against great competition. ETSU’s standout player was newcomer Kristian Bressum who transferred from St. Mary’s.

Bressum made a strong second-round push with an impressive 1-under-par 71. His round consisted of four birdies, and 11 pars showing his ability to capitalize on scoring opportunities, and he finished the round tied for 42nd at 1-over-par 145.

Despite the individual efforts, the ETSU team faced tough competition from nationally-ranked teams like Ole Miss and Oklahoma. Ole Miss led the field at 23-under-par, followed by Oklahoma at 22-under-par, with both teams creating a wide gap in the standings. ETSU was able to hold its own in stretches but could not close the gap as the tournament progressed.

The Valero Texas Collegiate is known for its challenging course layout at TPC San Antonio, a site that has hosted PGA Tour events. The conditions tested the skill set of the players’ game, from long drives to precise putting, and provided valuable experience for ETSU’s golfers as they look ahead to future tournaments.

ETSU finished tied for 13th at 27-over-par. The tournament offered both a challenge and a learning curve for ETSU, as they aim to build on their experiences and grow in the competitive collegiate golf scene.

ETSU now travels to Chicago for the Windon Memorial Classic.
