The ETSU men’s tennis team closed out October with a strong showing at the Elon Invitational, tallying 15 victories over a three-day span. Competing against players from schools like Charlotte, Norfolk State, and South Carolina State, six Buccaneers showcased their skills in both singles and doubles play.

Leading the singles charge was Pedro Cressoni, who put on an impressive performance with three wins. Cressoni’s weekend included a victory over Kareem Hakim from North Carolina Central, where he edged out a close match in three sets, 6-2, 4-6, 6-4.

Meanwhile, Juan Andres Listo made waves by defeating Richmond’s Otto Sewell, 7-5, 6-2, contributing to ETSU’s tally and solidifying his place amongst standout performers for the weekend.

In doubles play, ETSU demonstrated solid teamwork. The duo of Carlos Gonzales and Pedro Cressoni was impressive, claiming a commanding 6-2 win over Richmond’s Zachary Portnoy and Mark Taranov. Additionally, the pairing of Martin Garcia-Ripoll and Francisco Lamas secured another win for the Bucs, taking down Campbell’s Adi Dagan and Alexander Fragasso with a 6-3 score.

The Buccaneers’ weekend at Elon highlighted their consistent improvement, particularly in doubles, where ETSU has now posted a solid 12-6 record across fall tournaments. ETSU will return to action next weekend at the Wake Forest Invitational from Nov. 1-3, where they’ll look to continue their momentum and close out their fall season on a high note.
