ETSU’s Bluegrass, Old-Time, and Roots Music Studies will be returning to the Down Home for its takeover from Monday, Dec. 2. through Friday, Dec. 5.
The Down Home is a downtown Johnson City staple. The venue was founded in 1976 and has been prevalent in the Northeast Tennessee region’s music scene since. It is located at 300 West Main Street, Johnson City, TN.
Each year the Down Home hosts ETSU’s Bluegrass, Old-Time, and Roots Music Studies for a week long takeover.
During the takeover, student bands from the program will be performing live music on stage.
The events will last from 7 through 9 p.m. Monday, Dec. 2, through Friday, Dec. 5. There will be a general admission of $15 at the door.
The venue also hosts a dinner menu that features many TexMex options and as well as both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.
Bluegrass, Old-Time, and Roots Music Studies has also presented several other events previously this semester such as two separate Appalachian square dance events, the ETSU Blue Band Showcase and the Singer-Songwriters Showcase.
