On a cold Thursday night, the Bucs returned home to the court. This time against conference foe, the Mercer Bears. Entering the game, the Bucs were on a journey to bounce back after a close 64-60 loss to the Western Carolina Catamounts days earlier.

Before tip-off, the Bears would come in as major underdogs. Fighting with a struggling 6-11 record, the Bears would have their hands full. As for the Bucs, entering the game with a 10-8 record, 1-2 in Southern Conference play, a win against the Mercer Bears would give the team a major boost of energy as the season approaches its final stretch.

As the ball was tipped off, the Bucs and Bears would battle to a close first-half finish, as the Bucs would lead 34-27 at the half.

As the second half began, the Bucs focused on ball control and consistent offensive aggression. Controlling position, while focusing on clean play throughout, the Bucs were able to grab the major victory 70-46.

As a team, the Bucs were able to score 22 points alone from offensive mistakes from the Mercer Bears throughout the entirety of the game. Key players would come up big time for the Buccaneers as well, with senior Guard, Braylyn Milton (Charlotte, N.C.) would lead the team with 14 points alone. Going for 4-for-5 shooting from the 3-point line.

A major win for Buccaneers, as the battle for conference supremacy continues. The Bucs hit the court again on Saturday, Jan. 25 on the road against another SoCon foe, the Chattanooga Mocs at 2 p.m. on ESPN+. A critical matchup that will require the Lady Buccaneers to bring their absolute best as conference games hold potential placement for the March Madness tournament at the end of the season.
