On day one of the Battle at Briar’s Creek, the men’s golf team faced a three-hour fog delay, but that was no problem for the Bucs as they kept a full head of steam.
Once play finally teed off at The Golf Club at Briar’s Creek, the Buccaneers recorded a strong 5-under-par 283 in round one, securing a fifth place spot. As round two got started, ETSU gained momentum before the sunset put a pause on play with golfers spread across the course on holes 3-6.
Senior Kristian Bressum has been a standout since joining the Buccaneers. Bressum led ETSU, finishing the first round at four-under 68 and holding even-par through six holes in round two. He was tied for first at four-under when play was suspended. Yannick Malik, a transfer from Arizona, was tied for 11th in round one and playing one-under in round two.
The Battle at Briar’s Creek wrapped up Tuesday at The Golf Club at Briar’s Creek. Malik and Bressum put on a show in the ETSU men’s golf’s spring opener, finishing tied for 10th at 4-under-par 212.
