ETSU’s Little Bucs childcare program offers support to student parents by helping them find childcare and funding. The program serves current ETSU students with children between the ages of 5 weeks and 6 years old.

The Little Bucs program also provides student parents with access to workshops, training and group meetings designed to support them as both students and parents.

The Ballad Center for Early Learning at ETSU on Signal Drive is one of the primary childcare sites available to students who qualify. Through a partnership with ETSU, the center employs students working in various areas. Student workers help classroom teachers by organizing and implementing projects, facilitating learning and building relationships with children and families.

Aside from the Ballad Center for Early Learning at ETSU, there are several other options available for childcare such as Ballad Health childcare facilities or licensed childcare providers in Tennessee.

For students living outside the Johnson City area, the Little Bucs program can help identify childcare options elsewhere in Tennessee. The Childcare Funding Coordinator, Kerrie Olorin, is available to discuss opportunities for assistance and provide help on at a one-on-one level.

ETSU was awarded a federal Child Care Access Means Parents in School (CCAMPIS) grant, which provides childcare funding to eligible students. The university also uses student fees annually to help pay childcare costs. Some students may qualify for state subsidies as well.
