This semester has brought with it many new changes to the dining scene on campus from the opening of Pepper’s to the changes currently taking place at the Treehouse.

The Treehouse has already made the shift into a convenience store style option to give students another location, similar to the BucMart, where they can stop in to quickly grab something between classes. There are convenience items, such as snacks and drinks, as well as ready-to-go meals and Starbucks We Proudly Serve items.

“It’s important that we have convenience items for students to have grab and go food, or to grab a drink or some chips or a snack,” stated Sam Mayhew, Associate Vice President of Student Life and Enrollment. “Also, we want to add a hot meal option into that location so just thinking about how we can serve the students during the peak class time out of that location.”

In addition to these changes that have already occurred at the Treehouse, plans have been made to add a Just Baked Food Vending Machine and a Botrista Drink Machine. The Just Baked Machine will offer hot food items that are prepped and prepared in only a few minutes. It will include items such as White Castle sliders, cinnamon rolls, and Lean Cuisine type meals. The Botrista Machine will provide a wider variety of drink options for students to choose from.

“We’re targeting the end of March to get all of this in,” said Mayhew. “Now some of the stuff is already there like the Starbucks and the convenience items and those changes have already been made. It’s really the Just Baked and the Botrista Machine that we need to get installed.”

The meal swipe option that was previously available at the Treehouse has been shifted over to Pepper’s, which now has options available for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

This semester has also seen the addition of mobile ordering on campus through the Grubhub app. This gives students a way to use their meal swipes, dining dollars or ID bucks at available locations while on the go.

These changes are all working together to help students to be able to maximize their time between classes and amidst busy schedules, while still allowing them opportunities to get a nice meal.
