ETSU baseball made headlines with a stunning upset over No. 1 Tennessee taking down the Vols 7-6 in extra innings at Lindsey Nelson Stadium. The win snapped Tennessee’s 20-game unbeaten streak and marked one of the biggest victories in ETSU program history.

The Bucs came out swinging, grabbing an early lead 4-2 lead by the end of the third inning. The Vols fought back hard to even the score by the end of the seventh at 4-4. The teams battled deep into the night, but ETSU refused to back down. In the 10th, the Buccaneers pushed across the go-ahead run, then locked it down defensively to complete the upset. The win not only shocked fans everywhere but also showed ETSU’s ability to compete with the best in college baseball.

Just over a week later on March 28, ETSU found itself in another wild showdown against USC Upstate.  Despite knocking back seven home runs, they couldn’t hold off Upstate’s relentless attack, falling 19-14 in a high-scoring slugfest. The following day on March 29 ETSU rallied against USC facing USC in a doubleheader. The Bucs slammed USC 15-9 in game one and 7-3 in game two.

As of March 30, ETSU sits at 21-6 overall and 2-1 in conference play. They’ve been dominant at home, flexing an 18-3 record, while splitting their away games at 3-3. With momentum from their victory over Tennessee and an explosive offense, the Bucs are making a statement this season. They are a force to be reckoned with.

The upset over the Vols was a defining moment, proving ETSU can hang with the top teams in the country. As the season rolls on, all eyes are on the Buccaneers to see if they can build on this success and make a deep run. If the Bucs can replicate their home performances on the road, they have the potential for a truly special season.
