In one of the final games of the regular season, The ETSU Women’s Tennis team stepped onto the court to down the challenging UNCG Greensboro Spartans, in a score of 7-0. The Bucs win marks many late season occasions; including 10 wins in total. Additionally, the Bucs continued their winning ways in SoCon Conference play, moving to 4-0. Lead by Director of Tennis Ricky Rojas; alongside former star player turned assistant coach, Laylo Bakhodirova. The Bucs were more than ready to step up to the challenge.

In the singles’ competition, Bucs own Senior Daniela Rivera (Maturin, Venezuela) twice defeated UNCGs Senior Olivia Gallagher (Georgetown, Ky.) in a score of 6-3 in both matches. After three straight singles competition victories for the Bucs, Sophomore Julia Millan (Arévalo, Spain) would bring on the fourth and highest scored 7-5 victory in her first of two wins on the day.

The wins did not stop in just singles competition, as for the Bucs were able to win three straight doubles competitions. Rivera would pair with Sophomore Alessandra Caceres (Calama, Chile) downing the struggling Spartans squad in a score of 6-2. The next two doubles matchups would prove to be more of the same, as the Bucs would go onto completing the sweep against UNCG.

With three majorly important in-conference matchups looming ahead for the redhot Buccaneers, the expectations remain the same. Looking forward to matchups against the likes of Chattanooga, Western Carolina, and Furman, ETSU’s Women’s Tennis Team will be looking to end their regular season on the highest of notes. The Bucs season will conclude on April 12 after the next three string of games, right before the start of the Southern Conference Tournament that will begin at the end of the month.
