Continuing their impressive 2025 Broadway season, The Martin Center is set to bring yet another impactful production to the stage with the highly anticipated “Dear Evan Hansen.”
Following in the footsteps of two breathtaking shows, this third act of the season promises to deliver an emotionally powerful experience that will resonate deeply with audiences and spark important conversations. As one of the most emotionally resonant musicals of recent history, Dear Evan Hansen presents a story that speaks directly to the struggles many young people face today.
The decision to bring Dear Evan Hansen to ETSU was an easy one, given its powerful themes and emotional depth.
“At the Martin Center, we aim to offer diverse programming that inspires, educates, and connects our audiences,” stated Jennifer Clements, executive director of the Martin Center for the Arts. “We believe in the power of the arts to shine a light on important topics, and this production does exactly that.”
For ETSU students and the Tri-Cities community, this musical’s themes might hit close to home. Within its 2-hour-and-30-minute runtime, this six-time Tony Award-winning musical shines a light on contemporary life and the challenges young adults face in navigating mental health, social connection and self-acceptance. Yet, the impact extends beyond the stage as its powerful themes often resonate with audiences even after the final curtain call.
For many, the performance serves as a catalyst for deeper reflection, inspiring conversations that extend beyond the theater.
“My hope is that audiences walk away feeling seen, heard, and less alone,” stated Clements. “This show is a reminder that everyone is fighting their own battles, and kindness and support can make a world of difference.”
Bringing this incredible story to the Grand Hall stage wouldn’t be possible without the generous support of sponsors and the dedication of countless individuals. Their contributions ensure that productions like Dear Evan Hansen not only entertain but also inspire meaningful discussions and foster a sense of connection within the community.
“I want to thank our presenting sponsor for Dear Evan Hansen, Frontier Health, for their commitment to supporting mental health initiatives in our region,” stated Clements. “We also extend our gratitude to our 2025 Spring Broadway Season presenter, Bank of Tennessee, and all of our other Broadway show sponsors: Food City, Bravissima! Women Sponsoring the Arts, and Tri-Cities Airport.“
Clements also extended her gratitude to the media sponsor News 5 WCYB, the incredible staff, volunteers and partners, as well as one special group of individuals.
“Thank you to our audiences for showing up, engaging with the arts and making the Martin Center a home for powerful storytelling,” stated Clements. “We can’t wait to share this experience with you.”
