Two recent ETSU graduates have had their visas revoked by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
“I can confirm that ETSU has been notified that two recent graduates’ visas have been revoked under the authority of U.S. Department of Homeland Security. We have reached out to those individuals to let them know of their change of status and provided them with resources to assist them in determining their next step,” said a spokesperson for ETSU.
This news comes alongside revocations and visa status changes at many other universities across Tennessee. These changes are affecting both alumni and current students.
“ETSU has been given very limited information regarding the reason for these revocations, but we have no indication these actions are due to activism or other protected free speech. We are also not aware of any immigration officials coming to campus related to this situation. I cannot provide any additional details about the individuals involved as this is a private issue with legal ramifications.”
The ETSU’s International Enrollment and Services Office was unavailable for comment.
