Study Abroad is an ETSU program that allows students to spend a period in diverse countries while continuing their studies. ETSU currently has programs for about 57 countries. Study abroad opportunities include immersive experiences, career-driven internships and culture-rich adventures.
“I learned a lot about myself, but I think my biggest takeaway was the independence,” said Courtney Lucas, director of Education Abroad.
Those potential personal benefits of studying abroad are among many other academic and professional benefits, like increasing GPA and likelihood to graduate, as well as helping students gain skills interviewers look for.
Education Abroad is for everyone. Scholarships are offered to make the program accessible, as well as a wide variety of study lengths from one week to one year.
“There are courses in just about every subject area you can think of. Don’t take yourself out of the process before you’ve even explored your options, because there are options out there for you,” Lucas said.
No matter your major or concentration, ETSU has a way for you to experience education in another country.
You do not have to travel alone—group travel with other ETSU students and faculty-led programs bring comfort and ease of adaptation to studying abroad.
The first step is to attend an interest session, offered multiple times a semester. The sessions are organized by academic terms. This August and September, interest sessions will be held for summer and fall 2026 programs.
