I’m sure that everyone has heard different tales about Bigfoot and seen the various pictures of his supposed sightings, but what if I told you there’s a creature specifically in Tennessee that resembles Bigfoot, only much more terrifyingly?
This creature is nicknamed the Tennessee Wildman. The Tennessee Wildman was supposedly first sighted in the early 1800s in McNairy County. There’s little known about the origins of the Wildman, but one of the most common stories is that during the time, circuses were very common, and a showman captured this creature and used it for entertainment purposes. After many years of exploitation, the Tennessee Wildman finally broke free.
This creature is said to stand at least 7 feet tall with dark hair, reportedly being either grayish or ginger. Regardless of the creature’s hair color, every story has the same detail: the Tennessee Wildman has glowing red eyes. This creature resembles Bigfoot, but for unknown reasons, it is much more human-like. It is said that the Tennessee Wildman has a horrifying cry that terrifies everyone who hears it. Accompanying this cry is its reported terrible smell of rotting flesh.
Although this creature may resemble Bigfoot, it is supposed to behave quite differently, as it is known to be very aggressive. It is said that the majority of the time, when people get too close, the Tennessee Wildman attacks due to its territorial nature. To make this creature even more unsettling, it is said to have great agility and speed, despite its size, and possesses inhumane strength.
Because of the Tennessee Wildman’s aggressive nature, many different groups have reportedly gone out hunting for it, but either they don’t find anything or are too traumatized to tell the tale of what they experienced. It is reported that the Tennessee Wildman attempted to attack women and animals in the area where it was targeted, with the means of revenge.
Surprisingly enough, the last reported Tennessee Wildman sighting wasn’t all that long ago. Near Elizabethton, a gentleman by the name of Rob Phillips, along with one of his cousins, noticed something strange while they were hiking. They reported that everything had gone completely silent. The silence didn’t last long when, off in the distance, they heard twigs snapping, followed by that horrible scream that the wild man is said to cry. Out of pure shock and terror, both men ran in separate directions through the woods. Phillips ran for as long as he could, until he finally found safety behind a tree. This feeling of safety was short-lived when he then supposedly saw the Tennessee Wildman nearby, not even 15 feet away.
Since Philip supposedly got a very clear sighting of the Tennessee Wildman, he perfectly describes its red eyes and haunting smell. He reported that the creature had to be at least 9 feet tall and also possessed a set of claws.
Just like the stories of Bigfoot that have been around for generations, many people find it hard to believe that just one Wildman has been alive for so long. This leads to the question of whether there are multiple Tennessee Wildmen? If so, how many and what is their true origin?
