Campus Recreation will host a WERQ class unlike any other– it will specifically explore the music of Doja Cat and Doechii. This epic battle will take place on Thursday, Sept. 25, at 6:15 P.M. in Studio A at the CPA.

WERQ is regularly on the fall group fitness schedule. The high-energy cardio dance class takes place on Mondays from 5:15 to 6:00 P.M. and Thursdays from 6:15 to 7:00 P.M., both in Studio A at the CPA.

The class features popular hip-hop and pop music. Bailey Townsend, group fitness instructor, says, “The inspiration for this specialty class comes from the fact that Doja Cat and Doechii songs are always class favorites– both the new hits and the throwbacks. Their music is perfect for WERQ, and participants can’t help but get hyped and sing along before the class even starts!”

Doja Cat is known for her songs like “Kiss Me More (feat. SZA) and “Paint The Town Red,” drawing in 59.3M Spotify monthly listeners. Doechii is on the rise with hits like “Anxiety” and “DENIAL IS A RIVER” from her album Aligator Bites Never Heal

The two artists create similar music and have a positive relationship, promoted by Doechii opening for Doja Cat on tour. WERQ is allowing students the opportunity to explore these two artists’ discography while keeping fit.

“Our goal is to give students a fun and welcoming experience where they can enjoy a WERQ class set to the latest hits from Doja Cat and Doechii. With the best music and party lights, we’re creating a high-energy atmosphere that feels more like a night out than a workout,” Coordinator of Fitness and Marketing Shaina Reins says. “We want students of all fitness levels to feel comfortable coming in, dancing, and just having a great time together. Our last WERQ special event in the spring drew over 50 participants, and we’re excited to bring that same energy back this fall.”

Registration for this special WERQ event is open now. Students and all CPA members can register campusrec.etsu.edu. Registration will remain open until the start of class at 6:15 P.M. on Thursday, Sept. 25.
