On Oct. 13 and 14, the Buccaneers women’s golf team took to the greens at the Country Club of Spartanburg for their first appearance at the Terrier Intercollegiate. The tournament, hosted by Wofford, is held in Spartanburg, South Carolina and has 54 holes total; 36 on Monday and 18 on Tuesday.
The team went into this tournament with the mentality of trying to achieve a top 10 finish. The team not only achieved this but surpassed it, taking first overall in the team category. The Bucs finished with a three-round total of 891 (+27), landing themselves six shots ahead of the runner up, Wofford. This was ETSU’s first tournament win of the 2025-26 season and their first title since the 2024 Southern Conference Championship.
The Bucs not only took the team title in their first appearance at this tournament, but also the individual title. Freshman Sophia Gambini captured her first collegiate tournament win in only her fourth collegiate event. She remained even across rounds one and three. Her performance contributed to the momentum for ETSU’s program. Her winning three-round total was 217 (+1).
The Buccaneers not only showed up and showed out this weekend– they made a statement. It sends a strong message to other contenders. ETSU is becoming one of those matchups you circle with a red pen on your calendar before the day arrives. The Bucs will focus on staying consistent and using this momentum as a turning point for the rest of the season.
