As the semester comes to a close, the ETSU Department of Music is gearing up for its biggest concert of the year: the Annual Holiday Concert entitled Glory Shone Around.

For years, the Music Department has brought together audiences from all walks of life and ages for a celebration filled with incredible music and tons of holiday cheer. This year’s concert promises to be no exception, offering audiences a truly dazzling program filled with rich holiday favorites and warm sounds of the season.

Over 250 musicians and artists, including students and faculty members from all sections of the department of arts and sciences, will take the stage in the Grand Hall of the Martin Center.

Some of the featured ensembles include: The ETSU Chorale, BucsWorth Tenor/Bass Choir, the East Tennessee Belles Soprano/Alto Choir, the Greyscale Jazz Choir, the ETSU Orchestra, the ETSU Percussion Ensemble, the ETSU Faculty Brass Quintet, the Amalgam Student Dance Organization, as well as some very special guest musicians.

With such a stacked and diverse lineup of performing groups, this holiday show guarantees a level of variety that promises to deliver something for everyone.

For many performers, the Holiday Concert represents a culminating moment before winter break, bringing a sense of unity and accomplishment to the campus community. With the scale of the program and the sheer number of performers on and off stage, the holiday concert remains one of the largest collaborative productions the department puts on each year, with many performers listing this concert as their favorite.

For many attendees, the Holiday Concert has become a cherished annual tradition, marking the start of the winter season with a showcase of ETSU’s most ambitious musical work. Its reputation for high-quality performances and festive production value has made it a cornerstone event not just for the university, but for the greater Tri-Cities region, as this concert marks the beginning of many people’s holiday season.

Due to its growing popularity in the community, the department and the Martin Center for the Arts have decided to offer three opportunities over two days to catch this amazing concert: Friday, December 5 at 7:30 P.M., and Saturday, December 6 at 4:00 and 7:30 P.M.

With its blend of musical excellence and heartfelt tradition, this year’s concert invites everyone to come together, celebrate, and enjoy the spirit of the holidays through song.
