On Jan. 17, the ETSU women’s tennis team traveled to Raleigh, North Carolina, and made a valiant effort in their match against No. 11 NC State. With a tie in 8 out of 10 doubles rounds, the Bucs certainly held their own. But even with fierce competition, the NC State team eventually got the 7-0 win.
NC State jumped out to a 1-0 lead thanks to a pair of 6-1 victories in doubles. In singles, NC State won all six matches in two sets. Audelie Lesaauvage and Mariangel Estrella both pushed their second sets to tiebreaker points out of the No.4 and No. 6 positions.
The doubles teams battled, but both fell 6-1, with the last match unfinished. With their opponents’ strong defensive skills, each singles match ended in a saddening defeat.
