It is no shock that I am a fan of the supernatural, but I’m also a fan of Supernatural. Some of you might have seen the TV show, as it ran for 15 seasons and premiered in 2005. It centers on two brothers who spend their lives fighting supernatural beings across the U.S., trying to protect people from the things that go bump in the night. One episode takes place in Tennessee, though it is not specifically mentioned which part, and it centers around a Soul Eater.

In the TV show, a Soul Eater is a monster that feeds off people’s souls. It will trap them in a different timeline while their body in the real world goes into a coma. This different plane of existence is referred to as ‘The Nest” in the show, where the Soul Eater keeps every person that it captures and will continue to feed off of.

While some cultures do believe in a being that can do similar things, the Soul Eater was made up purely for the purposes of entertainment in the Supernatural show.

While the brothers are investigating the occurrence of a woman who randomly slipped into a coma after experiencing some paranormal happenings within her house, the brothers come to find out that their mentor, who had passed in an earlier season, had actually been on the same case with his partner years before. While there was no way to get rid of the Soul Eater, there was a sigil that their mentor had created that allowed it to be trapped within its own nest, so that it could no longer harm anyone.

While the brothers are investigating this case, one of them, Dean, is taken by the soul eater and put into The Nest, and it is up to his brother, Sam, to save him. He is successful in doing so. While this episode was mostly a filler to bring the brothers’ mentor back, it is a very interesting case. It is always fascinating to see what a creative mind can come up with as forms of entertainment.
