On March 1, the ETSU men’s tennis team faced off against No. 42 Charlotte and continued their winning streak. Though this was a tough match for the team, they still managed to bring home a 4-3 win.
In singles, Oscar Martinez won two out of three rounds, resulting in scores of 6-4, 5-7, 7-5. Winning both his rounds, Peter Kalocsai’s matches ended in 6-2 and 7-6. Kai Cowcher also brought home wins of 6-4 and 6-2. Finally, Carlos Gonzales won two out of three rounds, with 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 as the finals.
In doubles, the team of Arenui Luethi and Peter Kalocsai ended their match with a 6-6, leaving the game unfinished.
This winning match also marked a clear victory for Martinez, as he has yet to lose a singles match this season. It brings him to a perfect 9-0 record. He is not the only one winning this season, the overall team has maintained its winning streak, marking this match as its 9th win in a row. The team is sporting an overall record of 9-3 in the 2026 campaign.
Their next match will be against UNC Greensboro, whose current overall record is 2-7. Will ETSU be the third team to lose against them, or will their winning streak continue?
