Phi Sigma Pi’s 2026 National Convention brought together alumni and active chapter members for an opportunity to build connection and community between various chapters across the country. They awarded eight chapters and six members with national awards, including ETSU’s chapter, Epsilon Xi.
“Phi Sigma Pi is the only honors fraternity that we have on ETSU’s campus,” said Joselynn Nunley, Epsilon Xi’s recruitment and initiation advisor. “We thrive on scholarship, fellowship and leadership. We try to do our best for the community and help to build up others and just strive to be the best at who we are.”
During the convention, Epsilon Xi received the Sanders P. McComsey Most Improved Old Chapter Award. The award was given to a chapter chosen unanimously by the National Council based upon their demonstrated effort for the most overall improvement from the previous year.
One of Epsilon Xi’s main achievements last year was meeting their recruitment goal and continuing to grow their chapter at ETSU. They have also been able to attend the National Convention more regularly within the past couple of years and have worked to build more connections with the other chapters.
This year, Epsilon Xi plans to continue building on their chapter’s growth from previous years by focusing on recruitment efforts. They had several events over the week, including Cupcakes and Connections, an escape room, a craft night, Paint and Sip and a PJ night. They also plan to have more recruitment events following the official recruitment week, along with several interest meetings during mid-to-late September.
“We’ll be tabling a lot this upcoming week and maybe some the next week. So come up and see us at tabling. Ask questions. We also have an Instagram page and you can DM us,” said Lauren Clifton, Epsilon Xi’s secretary and PR/web admin chair.
