The ETSU men’s golf team tied their best finish of the young season, finishing sixth after Wednesday’s third and final round of the Adams Cup from Newport National Golf Club in Newport, R.I.
The Bucs had a strong third round, shooting a tournament best 280 to close out the competition. Every Buc player shot their best round of the tournament Wednesday. The final round got the Bucs within just eight strokes of team leader, Michigan State.
Marcos Trejos, matched the best score of the final round and the best of his career with a 68. Today’s round propelled Trejos into a tie for third (75-71-68-214) even with par, the highest finish of his career and ETSU’s best individual finisher of the season.
James Johnson also had a strong round, shooting a 2-under-par 70 to finish in a tie for eighth at 2-over-par (71-75-70-216).
ETSU returns to the links on Oct. 21-22 for the Tournament of Champions in Knoxville.
