Believe it or not, wildly colored, sometimes oddly designed athletic shoes are currently in vogue in the big wide world of accessories. With a combination of their sublime comfort and modern look, these hot items are segmenting their way into the wardrobes of countless individuals.
Gear up for some new kicks, and don’t be the last to jump on the fashion forward bandwagon. Of course you’ve gotta represent when you’re out and about. So what are you waiting for? Jazz up your wardrobe with some wacky “sneaks.”
Retail stores have stocked up on colorful Steve Madden and Converse sneakers and seem to sell a lot of them. “We sell lots everyday,” said Josh Landers, assistant manager at Journeys, in the Mall at Johnson City. “But, the Converse Chuck Taylors in different colors really sell themselves,” he said. “Because of their color, they are eye-catching and stand out quite a bit.”
These new additions to your wardrobe can be used for many purposes other than providing protection for your feet against the harsh fall winds of East Tennessee.
One can gain self-esteem, look better, feel better and beckon attractive members of the opposite sex with some sparkling new athletic shoes. Be brilliant, be radiant, but above all, be awe-inspiring with a toothbrush in one hand and shoe polish in the other.
“Whenever I go to the mall and shop, I get excited when I see all the athletic shoes in bright colors,” said Tiffany Collier, a hip, young education administration major.
“I think sneakers in vivid colors are important because they show what type of person you are. People who wear bright colors are more outgoing.”
Interestingly enough, societal factors have a lot to do with whether accessories are important to consumers or not. “The fact that we are in an economic downturn has made people invest more in accessories than in apparel items,” said Anna Duggins Roberts, associate professor in the department of applied human sciences. “Also, the fact that we are in such uncertain times has made people want things in brighter, happier colors,” she said.
Finding a variety of sneakers in joyful, happy colors is at present not difficult in the least. But, making one’s weird-looking, foul-smelling feet look snappy isn’t as easy as it looks. Picking out a presentable pair of athletic shoes takes patience and discernment on the part of the shopper. One should experiment, try on some different things and ultimately choose colors that flatter their wardrobe, skin tone and personality. For instance, people like say librarians should opt for sneakers in more muted colors and steer away from the red and green Puma Anjans that they were so tempted to purchase online.
The universal childhood belief that sneakers can make one run faster can hold greater meaning for us as adults. Think of your athletic shoes as your “magic shoes” as Forrest Gump so aptly described his leg braces.
When you are wearing them you can do anything – even change the world. Hmm. Athletic shoes as a vehicle for social change. Sounds delightful.
But whatever it is you do with your feet, make sure they look good, honey, and stock up on some chic, comfy sneakers that will keep your feet happy, healthy and wise for seasons to come.
No doi. Corns and bunions are so pass.
