East Tennessee State’s men’s golfers shot a final-round 295 to finish fourth (301-297-295–893) in the Tulane Invitational Tuesday at the English Turn Golf and Country Club in New Orleans.
Senior James Johnson paced the Bucs, shooting a 73 on Tuesday to finish in a tie for third at 1-over-par (70-74-73–217). Johnson finished seven strokes behind tournament medalist Bill Haas of Wake Forest. The Demon Deacons (292-293-289–874) also won the team championship, defeating Southern Methodist by one stroke (292-292-291–875).
Sophomore Jeremy Hobson and freshman Derek McNamara tied for 18th. McNamara (76-75-74–225) fired a final-round 74 while Hobson (75-73-77–225) closed with a 77 on Tuesday.
ETSU sophomore Cennydd Mills tied for 27th at 80-75-74–229, and sophomore Marco Trejos carded 81-79-74–234 to finish tied for 35th.
The men’s golfers return to action at the Puerto Rico Classic, Feb. 23-25 in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
