Cross country at Great American Cross Country Festival
Women’s cross country team placed fourth while the men’s team placed 20th Friday night in Cary, N.C. Emily Chaney placed 37th overall in the 5k race. Brad Yewer finished 57th overall in the 8k race. Their next competition will be on October 11 at the Auburn Invitational in Alabama. Soccer shuts out Winthrop, 3-0
The Buc soccer team defeated Winthrop 3-0 Friday night at Rock Hill, S.C. Jennifer Fields scored first off a pass from Rebecca Murray. Andrea Brown gave the Bucs a 2-0 lead after an assist by Katherine Gentry. Emily Fulcher scored off of Lindsay Hoffman for the final score. This was the Bucs fifth shut out of the season.

Lady Buc tennis wraps up Sunday at Virginia Tech Tournament
Women’s tennis won four of its six singles consolation matches and two of its for doubles consolation matches. Jewel Aldea, Sylwia Ziolkowska, Mariya Ilyina and Tatiana Arriaran won in singles. In doubles Ilyina and Coutney McInnis took sixth place. Gemma Halim and Jessica Irey; and Aimee Villavicencio and Ziolkowska won. Next weekend, they will be in the Wake Forrest Tournament in Winston-Salem, N.C.
