Customers at the Mall at Johnson City received a once-a-year bargain shopping experience as the mall held it’s fifth annual Magical Night of Giving Sunday from 7-10 p.m.
This after-hours event is a fundraiser for many non-profit organizations. These groups receive 100 percent of the money raised from selling $5 tickets for entry to the mall.
Most stores offer special sales and discount opportunities just for the occasion, ranging from 10-50 percent off and $5-$30 off qualifying purchases.
In addition to special discounts, entertainment was provided from several local groups including the Dance Company, Celebration Show Choir and Sullivan East High School choir. Santa Claus was even available for photographs.
Door prizes and giveaways also lured customers to the special event. This year’s grand prize package included a $1,000 mall shopping spree, a trip for two to New York City for New Year’s Eve – including airfare, accommodations in Times Square, a $200 shopping spree in Gwen Stefani’s Boutique and entertainment tickets.
Fitness center memberships, free food, store gift certificates, mall gift certificates, a Bristol spring race package and museum memberships were also given as door prizes.
Last year’s Magical Night of Giving raised more than $60,000 for participating organizations. Attendance was over 12,000.
Shopping centers all across the country participate in this and other similar events to help non-profit organizations raise money and give shoppers extra perks for giving.
The Mall at Johnson City’s event was co-sponsored by Coca-Cola, WJHL, American Mountain Rentals, The Shopping News and Neighbor.
